New on DVD
RYAN: One of my favorite horror movies ever, “The Last House on the Left,” is new on DVD this week. As I recall, you did not attend this screening with me. You have to rent it!
CAROLINE: Ugh, I don’t know if I can stomach it. Graphic movies like this give me nightmares.
RYAN: Well, it’s pretty violent, I have to admit. But I loved it. It’s a remake of Wes Craven’s first ever movie from 1972, and the DVD comes with both the theatrical version and an unrated version.
CAROLINE: I can’t imagine how much more brutal the unrated version must be. I think I have to sit this one out. Even watching it in the comfort of my own home seems frightening.
RYAN: The cast is so great, which is what really makes it awesome. You really care about them and are rooting for them.
CAROLINE: I’m glad you dug it, but it’s just not for the squeamish like me. Next up is “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” Somebody shoot me.
RYAN: Somebody shoot me! I’m the one who saw it in the theater, not you.
CAROLINE: Yeah, I still can’t believe you even went to this screening. Remind us all again how bad the movie is?
RYAN: Painfully bad. Atrocious. Miley Cyrus can’t act to save her life. The story is lame. Tyra Banks has a humiliating cameo. It was all too much.
CAROLINE: I’m sure many a young girl will nonetheless be begging her parents to buy this DVD for her.
RYAN: Parents, don’t watch this with your kids. You may never recover.
