AWAY WE GO
CAROLINE: I was so excited for “Away We Go” that I after missing the screening, I happily paid my own hard-earned $12.50 to see it.
CAROLINE: Of course! You know how I love John Krasinski. And I kinda dig Maya Rudolph too, even though we’re used to seeing her in SNL skits not dramedies about a couple expecting a baby.
RYAN: It’s kind of a departure for her. How does she look?
CAROLINE: She looks totally the same, but with a big fake pregnant belly. And now, coincidentally, she’s pregnant in real life.
RYAN: Here’s what I most want to know – was this movie indie quirky funny or really truly funny?
CAROLINE: More towards the indie quirky, since it’s that kind of movie. But it’s very sweet and funny overall, so I think you definitely would have LOL’ed along with me. The supporting cast is fab too. Maggie Gyllenhaal is hilarious as this earth momma type and Catherine O’Hara and Jeff Daniels are brilliant as always.
RYAN: How’s the chemistry between John K. and Maya? Because they look physically mismatched to me. She seems to old for him or something.
CAROLINE: They’re actually very cute together. I wouldn’t say there’s tons of sexual chemistry because it’s not that kind of movie. But they look very comfortable together and played the role of a happy couple very well.
RYAN: I love that Mr. Kate Winslet directed this movie, especially after the heavy-handed “Revolutionary Road.”
CAROLINE: Yes, Sam Mendes usually does much bigger budget movies, so I kinda like that he took on a smaller, more indie feeling film.
RYAN: Do I need to rush out and see it?
CAROLINE: Well, we have it here in NYC, but it’s not playing in a ton of theaters, so it could probably be a rental. It’s a small movie, but still totally entertaining. I’d recommend it for people in their 20s and 30s.
— BOTTOM LINE —
CAROLINE: This movie is adorable. I had high hopes for it and I was not disappointed. It’s both funny and serious, with lots of sweet relationship moments. I really liked it.
