New On DVD

RYAN: A movie I loved from last year, “City of Ember,” is new on DVD today and I just might have to go out and buy it.

CAROLINE: That would be a children’s film, correct? The one with Saoirse Ronan from “Atonement”?

RYAN: Yes, and it co-stars Bill Murray and Tim Robbins. I loved this movie so much I wanted to be in it.

CAROLINE: That’s the 14-year-old girl in you talking. I think I’ll be skipping this one.

RYAN: Speaking of skipping movies, Mark Wahlberg’s “Max Payne” is also new on DVD today, and neither of us saw it.

CAROLINE: Apparently no one else did either; it only made about $40 million at the box office, which is low for a movie like this.

RYAN: I don’t think I’ll ever see a movie that’s a video game adaptation. Not even Marky Mark could pique my interest. And if you’re into movies like this, it was probably better to see it on the big screen.

CAROLINE: Definitely. The special effects are key. Rent it at your own risk.
