New On DVD
CAROLINE: The very funny “Pineapple Express” is new on DVD today.
RYAN: I didn’t get to see this one, but it looked like a stupid pot movie to me.
CAROLINE: I’m telling you, it was really funny. James Franco was hilarious. I love that he got a Golden Globe nomination for this. It’s such a random movie – and one that would never get Oscar recognition – but it has some brilliant moments.
RYAN: Well, it did have Judd Apatow behind it.
CAROLINE: And in the spirit of Judd, it was a touch too long. There are some action sequences at the end they could have cut down. But it made me laugh a lot. I’d definitely recommend it as a rental.
RYAN: Next up is “Righteous Kill,” the movie that marked the momentous reunion of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
CAROLINE: This movie was such a shame. Why didn’t Al and Bobby D. hold out for a better movie to do together?
RYAN: Yeah, it wasn’t great. I didn’t mind it when I saw it in the theater, but after thinking about it for a few days, it got worse and worse in my mind. And the twist was totally predictable.
CAROLINE: The ending was absurd. I’d stay far, far away from this movie, even as a rental. It’s just not worth it.
