New on DVD
RYAN: What’s new on DVD this week?
CAROLINE: Honestly, nothing we care about that much – “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” for example. That movie did nothing for me.
RYAN: I enjoyed the visual effects a lot. And the makeup is amazing.
CAROLINE: I remember liking the first half hour or so and then majorly losing interest. This is so not my kind of movie.
RYAN: It’s a little more up my alley, and I loved Selma Blair… but I only liked about half of it. It definitely lost me after the random Barry Manilow musical number. Rent or buy it only if you’re a huge fan of the franchise.
CAROLINE: If you hate creepy sci-fi and fantastical creatures, this is not for you.
RYAN: Speaking of sci-fi, also new on DVD this week is an animated movie from George Lucas, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
CAROLINE: This was my worst movie nightmare realized. Sci-fi + animated? Count me out in the future.
RYAN: I know; I don’t know how you even sat through this movie. It’s really targeting a very young audience, especially because it served as a kick-off for an animated TV series.
CAROLINE: I have nothing more to say about it.
RYAN: I liked it. The animation is great, and anyone who loves “Star Wars” should see it. But it’s definitely not as exciting a release as a real “Star Wars” movie.
