New on DVD
RYAN: I had so much fun at the release party for the Disney classic “Sleeping Beauty” Platinum Edition new on DVD today.
CAROLINE: Young at heart, as you are, you must have reverted totally to your inner little princess.
RYAN: Oh, I did. It was a fabulous event in the grand ballroom at New York’s Plaza Hotel. It was really a glorious day. Vanessa Williams was there; Elizabeth Hasselbeck, some other TV stars… it was fancy and like being at Disney World in NYC.
CAROLINE: Were you in heaven?
RYAN: Yes.
CAROLINE: Sounds like a nice soiree. Now let’s get down to business. How’s this edition of “Sleeping Beauty”?
RYAN: It’s fantastic! It’s the first time anyone has ever been able to see it in widescreen. And the special features on disc 2 are great. There are even deleted songs.
CAROLINE: Cool. Any real Disney fan will enjoy that.
RYAN: I already have “Sleeping Beauty” on DVD from the last time Disney put it out, but this version is really superior to it. There’s an all-new making-of featurette, a never-before-seen alternate opening, games, etc…
CAROLINE: Also new on DVD is M. Night Shyamalan’s debacle “The Happening.”
RYAN: Wherein there’s not a lot happening, as we were wont to say around the film’s theatrical release.
CAROLINE: [laughs’ Right. It’s so not worth seeing; however, for those out there who like DVD special features, there’s reportedly an extended version with, like, a whole ‘nother hour of the movie.
RYAN: I can’t imagine this slow, boring movie any longer… unless he added all the good scenes that hadn’t been in the original version. Wouldn’t that be something?
CAROLINE: I highly doubt it.
RYAN: Also out today is the rude and lame Adam Sandler film “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.”
CAROLINE: We both were over this movie after only 15 minutes into it.
RYAN: And why on earth, pray tell, is there a 2-disc edition of it? It’s so not a special movie.
