MISTER FOE

RYAN: I was so totally into every minute of “Mister Foe,” though it was weird because in the opening credits, which are amazing by the way, it was called “Hallam Foe.”

CAROLINE: Well, that’s the name of the boy in the movie, and that’s the title of the film overseas; they just changed it for the U.S. release.

RYAN: People, don’t be feeling like this is a foreign film, even though it is. But it’s filmed in Scotland, so it’s all in English with those great Scottish accents.

CAROLINE: Yes, but one guy’s accent was so thick that I was like, “Help! I need subtitles!”

RYAN: I could not understand a word that man said. He was very annoying. But the movie is so good; one of the best I’ve seen this year.

CAROLINE: It’s a small, slightly weird, indie movie which I enjoyed too, but it’s a little creepy. Hallam is a Peeping Tom for God’s sake. But Jamie Bell of “Billy Elliot” fame is so freakin’ good, and I’m just glad he’s in a better movie this year than “Jumper.”

RYAN: He’s all grown up, and give him another ten years and he might be in my top 5 Hollywood’s Hottest. Also gorgeous in this film is Claire Forlani.

CAROLINE: She married Dougray Scott last year, and she’s awfully skinny.

RYAN: I thought she looked amazing. The gays are gonna love her character in this movie because she’s such a wench.

CAROLINE: She has fierce dark red lipstick. And I don’t mean fierce in the Christian Siriano way; I mean fierce like savage. She practically looked tribal.

RYAN: Little Billy Elliot also wears some tribal makeup. I’d say I was charmed, appalled, shocked and enthralled by this movie.

CAROLINE: There are some truly shocking scenes where I almost couldn’t believe what I was watching. But it has a very satisfying ending, and I loved his relationship with the girl. The movie has a lot of twists so that’s all I’ll say about that.

RYAN: It’s kind of like “Notes on a Scandal” minus the Judi Dench or Cate Blanchett factor.

CAROLINE: So in other words, it’s nothing like “Notes on a Scandal.”

RYAN: Well, it’s the same sort of film, with the twists and the creepiness. It’s got the same shock factor.

CAROLINE: But in this movie, the kid is trying to solve what he thinks is his mother’s murder. I think it’s pretty different. Also noteworthy – the music is fabulous. Bottom line?

RYAN: I would definitely recommend this movie. I was totally swept up into the world that it takes place in and I was entertained throughout. The performances are outstanding, it’s well written and it’s edited impeccably.

CAROLINE: It’s a very small movie that probably won’t play in a lot of theaters, but I enjoyed it a lot. It’s not for everyone though, especially if you don’t like Scottish people.

RYAN: [laughs’ Thankfully, we do. Hello Ewan McGregor and Gerard Butler!

CAROLINE: It’s really intriguing movie for sure. Consider me a huge Jamie Bell fan.

Thanks For Viewing The MISTER FOE
