New on DVD

CAROLINE: That Sarah Jessica Parker movie we loved earlier this year, “Smart People,” is new on DVD today.

RYAN: OMG it was hilarious! I loved Dennis Quaid for all his chunkiness and grumpiness. And how great was that Ellen Page?

CAROLINE: She was awesome in this, playing a very Alex P. Keaton type character; but I’m thinking she needs another hit fast or she’ll forever be that girl who played Juno, got nominated for an Oscar and was never heard from again.

RYAN: Kind of like Jennifer Hudson who has zero acting career except for miraculously landing that role in “Sex and the City: The Movie.”

CAROLINE: Exactly. There’s not much else happening today in DVD releases, other than this random America Ferrera movie called “How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer.” I remember hearing a little bit about it when it first came out, but not much.

RYAN: That America Ferrara looks so different when she’s not playing Ugly Betty.

CAROLINE: I know. She should simultaneously be kissing Salma Hayek’s feet for giving her a great career, and making voodoo dolls of her for making her look so hein on prime-time television.
