New on DVD

CAROLINE: I must say today’s DVD releases aren’t that exciting. Let’s start with “Vantage Point,” starring a lot of famous people such as Forest Whitaker, Matthew Fox, Sigourney Weaver and Dennis Quaid.

RYAN: I didn’t see this movie but you did, and I remember you thought it was decent.

CAROLINE: Yeah, it was all right. A lot of people didn’t like the gimmick of it – that you saw the same event happen from five different vantage points. I thought it was kind of interesting, though it’s not an outstanding movie by any means.

RYAN: Fine, then let’s talk about another non-outstanding albeit funny movie, “Drillbit Taylor.” For some unknown reason, there’s an Unrated Special Survival Edition of this DVD, with deleted scenes and audio commentary. I’m not sure this movie merits all that.

CAROLINE: I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. But I remember we were so primed to hate this movie, and then we actually found ourselves laughing during it.

RYAN: Entirely because of the two hilarious kids. Owen Wilson was incidental.

CAROLINE: Definitely. It’s amusing, but I can’t really recommend this even as a rental. I think we enjoyed it mostly because it was such slim pickings at the theater this March. If you got stuck watching it on the plane, I guess you could sit through it; but then and only then.

Thanks For Viewing The New on DVD
