CAROLINE: What do we make of this new movie that Katie Heigl is working on?

RYAN: It sounds a little creepy and too close to home for me.

CAROLINE: Meaning that her parents are Mormons?

RYAN: Exactly. And she used to be too.

CAROLINE: Well, she’s signed on to play Carolyn Jessop in a movie based on her memoir called “Escape” in which she describes her life as a member of a polygamist sect. It was part of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, which is very different from Mormonism – but still.

RYAN: This woman’s story is very creepy and sad. Basically, she was married off at 18 to a man old enough to be her father. She had 8 kids with him and then finally fled the sect when she was 35. She wrote about it and now it’s going to be a movie!

CAROLINE: And get this – Katherine’s also signed on as a producer.

RYAN: Smart girl! That’s where the money is.

CAROLINE: No wonder she seems to be in such a rush to get out of her “Grey’s Anatomy” contract… Dissing the writers and all by saying her material this year wasn’t worthy of an Emmy nom.

RYAN: She better not bite the hand that feeds her – movie careers don’t last forever, but a job on a hit show is always a big moneymaker.
