DECEPTION

CAROLINE: Ryan, you were very essited to see “Deception” for two reasons: Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman.

RYAN: Ewan McGregor is my #1 favorite actor of all time, and I will see anything he does. And I have no regrets about seeing this movie even though you didn’t want to, because it has many a love scene with Ewan. I applaud the director for that.

CAROLINE: I thought about seeing it with you but I reassessed after hearing about it, although I do love me some Hugh Jackman. It’s a psychosexual thriller, but I heard it’s less “9 1/2 Weeks” and more “Sliver.”

RYAN: Sadly, yes. And Hugh Jackman really only bookends the movie. He’s not in it that much. But he’s clearly the bigger star because on the movie poster, it’s all Hugh.

CAROLINE: Ooh, I’m really glad I didn’t see it then.

RYAN: The buzz around this film is accurate. It’s not a great movie and it’s not well written. The pace is awkward and the music is overwrought. But it’s certainly not the worst movie either. It’s not as bad as “10,000 B.C.” for example.

CAROLINE: How was the sex?

RYAN: It’s fine. I wanted a little more and wouldn’t have minded more skin from Ewan, which we know he isn’t afraid to show. But it’s supposed to be a suspenseful movie and it’s not very suspenseful.

CAROLINE: How’s Michelle Williams?

RYAN: She’s looking more gorgeous than she ever has. There are a few scenes where she’s even hotter than both Hugh and Ewan.

CAROLINE: Wow! She’s come a long way from her pig-faced days on “Dawson Creek.”

RYAN: Thank you, Tom Cruise.

CAROLINE: What’s your bottom line?

RYAN: It’s not a total waste of time, but it is what it is.

CAROLINE: In other words, I’m not running out to pay $11.50 to see it.

RYAN: It’s not a must-see on the big screen, but it does star two of Hollywood’s greatest actors. It’s a mediocre film, but if you’re fans of these two you won’t regret seeing it.

Thanks For Viewing The DECEPTION
