CHAOS THEORY

RYAN: I’m so sorry that I couldn’t see “Chaos Theory” with you. How was it?

CAROLINE: I really liked it, but it’s a tiny little movie that’s only playing in major cities. I think it might get a wider release eventually, but for now, most of us won’t get to see it until it’s on DVD. And I think I might love Ryan Reynolds a little bit.

RYAN: Was he as good in this as he was in “Definitely, Maybe”?

CAROLINE: Yes, though it’s a very different role. I’m happy to say he’s still hot. Emily Mortimer plays his wife.

RYAN: I dig her.

CAROLINE: She’s been in a lot of stuff lately, and will be in the new David Mamet movie, “Redbelt.”

RYAN: So how entertained were you?

CAROLINE: Very. I think I was the target audience for this movie. It’s about a couple that has a young kid, and it’s told mostly in flashback about how they got together and the early years of their marriage. Ryan Reynolds plays an anal time management expert, and the movie shows how his life changes course after his wife sets the clock back 10 minutes. There are a lot of twists and turns.

RYAN: Sounds like an interesting character study.

CAROLINE: Definitely. It’s one of those slice of life movies, and Ryan Reynolds is trying to figure out what’s most important to him. It’s sweet and poignant, but still very funny. And most importantly, it’s not too long.

RYAN: Hallelujah!

CAROLINE: And Sarah Chalke has a supporting role, which thrilled me. I love her on “Scrubs,” and I don’t understand why she’s not in more movies. Also look for Charlize Theron’s boyfriend playing the best friend.

RYAN: What’s your bottom line?

CAROLINE: It’s a very cute indie movie that you’ll enjoy especially if you like these actors. I laughed a lot.

RYAN: Sounds like something you don’t necessarily have to see on the big screen.

CAROLINE: Probably not. It’s low budget but well made, and the more I see of Ryan Reynolds, the more I like him. I think he’s a good actor; there’s more to him than just hottie Van Wilder.
