KING KONG (with a huge, big shlong) by Ryan

I got lucky with this one. My pal Harry Legg, the voice of KTU radio in NYC, called me day-of the red carpet world premiere, with an extra ticket. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance… though I do regret not catching this one firsthand with Caroline.

The red carpet was HUGE (with a silent H). I unfortunately didn’t catch any star glimpse; however, they were all there and so was La Lohan.

Every screen at both the 42nd Street AMC & Loews theaters was rented out for the event and all showed KKong at 6:30. That was kind of cool… and all free concessions… but no goodie-bag. 🙁

Well… I liked it… but I also hated it. I mean, seriously… how sincerely can I take a love story between a woman and a monkey? It just doesn’t hold up… for starters, the beast has to smell awful!!

And since the story is so weak, P.Jackson filled it out with effects that are just ahead of their time… some didn’t even look real. Like you could almost see the green screen. And the effects sequences really added NADA to the story…. but they did add handsomely to the 3hours 7mins runtime.

But… it’s a big, fun, entertaining blockbuster thrill-ride… I feel very mixed about it. No doubt it’ll be huge box office… and for all invested, it better be.
