27 DRESSES

RYAN: As hard as this may be for you to believe, I don’t own even one dress. But I did love “27 Dresses.”

CAROLINE: I was highly anticipating this film because it’s a romantic comedy/chick flick starring Katherine Heigl. What more do I need?

RYAN: Throw James Marsden into the mix and I’m there.

CAROLINE: Not to mention Judy Greer, who we love. She plays the best friend like no other.

RYAN: Her facial expressions, delivery and timing are so spot-on. She’s one of my favorite supporting actresses ever.

CAROLINE: I didn’t think she was looking her best in this movie though. She had bags under her eyes, and her hair was a veritable rat’s nest.

RYAN: I thought she looked pretty good… except her hair could definitely win the Oscar for Worst Hair in a Movie.

CAROLINE: Overall, I liked “27 Dresses” a lot, but I didn’t love it as much as I’ve loved some rom coms in the past. I guess my problem was that I didn’t think Katie Heigl and James Marsden had the best chemistry.

RYAN: I think they looked a little awkward together.

CAROLINE: He’s too little and too pretty for her. She’s a tall gal.

RYAN: They’re both so good though. The only thing that annoyed me a little about her is that she seemed to be on the verge of tears throughout the film. I know that’s hard to do so I’m impressed, but it also irritated me.

CAROLINE: Hmm, I didn’t even notice. I loved Katherine’s wardrobe in this movie. Her work outfits are really cute. I also loved her sister as played by Malin Akerman from “The Heartbreak Kid.” She’s very Cameron Diaz-esque.

RYAN: We must note that Katherine Heigl clearly lost a lot of weight for this movie, probably because she had to stand next to that superskinny Malin and they didn’t want her to look like the fat sister.

CAROLINE: Yeah, Katherine is teeny tiny in this movie, but sadly so is James Marsden which is why I didn’t love them together. I thought they were both individually great though, and they did have great chemistry in the “Bennie and the Jets” scene.

RYAN: Without naming names, there was someone in the film with whom I had a fling. See if you can figure out who it is.

CAROLINE: Juicy!

RYAN: One last thing – Edward Burns is in this movie too, and he’s good-looking but just kind of unremarkable. He’s a decent actor but he just doesn’t stand out.

CAROLINE: At least he’s not only in “One Missed Call.” That would be depressing for his career. Bottom line?

RYAN: I loved this movie. In fact, I’ve seen it twice already. It’s well paced, very entertaining and emotionally engaging. You really feel everything they’re feeling in the movie, and I know you cried. There’s also a sibling relationship that I somewhat identified with. I really recommend this movie.

CAROLINE: I’d totally recommend it too, though I don’t think I loved it quite as much as you. It isn’t a great chick flick, but it’s a pretty darn good one. I just think I would have a liked a different actor playing the leading man. Maybe that hottie, Gabriel Macht, from “Because I Said So.”
