LIONS FOR LAMBS

RYAN: Wanna talk about a buzzkill? Try “Lions for Lambs.”

CAROLINE: This movie wasn’t as good as I’d hoped, though it was very short – about 90 minutes. I’ll give it points for that.

RYAN: But it didn’t feel short. I thought it would never end. I was restless during this because it’s one of the most tedious movie going experiences I’ve had in ages.

CAROLINE: I don’t think I hated it as much as you did. I found it a little preachy though. Robert Redford directed it and he’s clearly making a statement about today’s politics, and it’s just so obvious from the first scene what he’s saying. It’s not that I disagree with him, I’m just irritated by it.

RYAN: The whole thing was just boring. So, so boring to me. And seriously? It was boring.

CAROLINE: Basically, there are 3 different plots but they don’t even really intertwine. Tom Cruise plays a Senator being interviewed by Meryl Streep, Robert Redford is a professor having a discourse with one of his students, which is so tedious after a while, and then there’s another part about 2 guys who are soldiers in Afghanistan. I think it that last part was supposed to be moving and horrifying, but it just seemed fake and stupid.

RYAN: Totally. The scenes that were supposed to come across as suspenseful or action-packed fell completely flat. And it’s not even a beautiful or pretty film. And it has two of the most compelling actors of our time, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep, but I was totally uninterested during their scenes. I felt so disconnected; I didn’t even care.

CAROLINE: I have to say though, Tom Cruise is looking H-O-T. He doesn’t have any of that extra weight, and his hair isn’t in that horrible style he’s been having for that German movie. He hasn’t looked so good in a while.

RYAN: Fine, but he’s just so weird these days that I can’t compliment his looks. Bottom line?

CAROLINE: I think that in this fall season with all the great movies that are out, this is not one that you need to see unless you adore Robert Redford. It’s not a terrible movie or anything, I just feel like he’s hitting us over the head with his message and I didn’t appreciate it.

RYAN: This movie is an outright waste of your time and moolah. I wouldn’t even pay for the rental. See it on cable if you must, but otherwise skip it.
