30 DAYS OF NIGHT

CAROLINE: Thank you kindly for seeing “30 Days of Night” without me.

RYAN: No. You should regret not seeing this. It’s super fun and it’s probably the first scary movie I’ve seen in years, with the exception of “The Omen,” that was actually scary.

CAROLINE: Which is precisely why I didn’t want to see it.

RYAN: I went with our friend Cosmo and we had a great time.

CAROLINE: I still don’t regret it. How was Melissa George who we loved to hate on “Alias”?

RYAN: She’s excellent and she does a great American accent. Josh Hartnett is OK but a little over-the-top at times. He looks pretty good though. But one of my favorite actors and one of the top 5 hottest men in Hollywood in my book, Ben Foster, gives another amazing performance. He is becoming a real tour de force character actor, especially after his last film, “3:10 to Yuma.” He plays a great sinister bad guy.

CAROLINE: How much blood spillage are we talking about in this movie?

RYAN: It’s one of the most disgustingly gory films I’ve ever seen. But it’s one of the best kinds of horror films because it’s genuinely scary, and the reality is that we all want to be scared during a horror movie. But about 3/4 of the way through the film it becomes really silly, which dissipates your fear to the point that by the time you leave the theater, you’re not scared anymore.

CAROLINE: Oh good, so you won’t have nightmares.

RYAN: I was thankful for that because even though I want to be scared, I don’t want to leave and be afraid to walk home.

CAROLINE: How’s the length?

RYAN: They probably could have cut out about 10 minutes. And the guy who plays the main vampire, Danny Huston, is good but I almost wish they’d cast an unknown. He wasn’t as scary to me because I recognized him from other movies.

CAROLINE: Right, you’re like, “Oh there’s that guy from ‘Children of Men.’”

RYAN: Exactly.

CAROLINE: What’s your bottom line?

RYAN: Well, it’s October and it’s the right time for a movie like this. Bring out the big guns of horror! Let’s hope this film does better at the box office than other horror films have done this year. And let me just say one more thing: Ben Foster.

CAROLINE: We’ll see if it stands up against “Saw IV” which comes out on October 26th.

Thanks For Viewing The 30 DAYS OF NIGHT

This movie sucked. Aliens pop out of the siup at the end. It was a terrible payoff and a waste of precious time. Next time I see Josh – i will ask for my $10 back.
