BLOOD DIAMOND

RYAN: “Blood Diamond” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and my favorite sexy girlfriend – after you, of course – Jennifer Connelly.

CAROLINE: And one very striking Djimon Hounsou.

RYAN: He’s dreamy! We saw this at an advanced screening at the Lincoln Square theater on 68th and Broadway.

CAROLINE: And we were delighted to be joined by our fabulous friends and former co-workers, Cheryl and Sean John.

RYAN: They’re dolls! I gotta tell you, I had difficulty knowing whether or not I enjoyed this film because the girl behind me had her feet pressed against my seat the whole time. It was like I was in an ejector seat.

CAROLINE: Nonetheless. The movie is heavy on the politics, heavy on the violence and heavy on the length.

RYAN: And sadly, not so heavy on the romance.

CAROLINE: Oh my God, we were dying! I was waiting the whole time for a romantical moment between Leo and Jen Jen and it never happened.

RYAN: Normally we don’t like to give away any plot points – however, don’t get your hopes up in this case because there is no kiss. They have great chemistry –

CAROLINE: Palpable chemistry!

RYAN: But they don’t deliver on the love scene.

CAROLINE: It’s like you’re waiting for it for the whole movie, but it was never to be fulfilled. So disappointing.

RYAN: So!! Jennifer Connelly looks absolutely degorgeous and gives a great performance but I would have liked to see more of her.

CAROLINE: I enjoyed her scenes and Leo was great, as always.

RYAN: He’s hot.

CAROLINE: Really hot and buff-looking. He’s filled out nicely in his 30s. It’s a decent movie and there were some really powerful scenes but my God, it was long!

RYAN: Powerful, indeed. Cheryl was crying so hard, I think she splashed you with tears.

CAROLINE: (chuckles)

RYAN: Leo is not going to be nominated for this film. He was fine; but not Oscar-caliber. And yes, the movie was way too long. It took us to places we needn’t to go. And I had a major problem with whoever color-corrected this film. It kept switching from bright colors to muted even within the same scene.

CAROLINE: My main problem with this was the length, the length, the length!

RYAN: Bottom line?

CAROLINE: It’s a good enough movie. It has its moments and I enjoyed it; but, it’s not a must-see.

RYAN: Je agree. It was fine. But I don’t know that I would have paid to see this film. Luckily, we were at an advanced screening, thank you Warner Bros. The film has an important message and its based on real events and having an uncle who owned a jewelry store for many years, I feel this film is very close to me.

CAROLINE: (laughs)

RYAN: But honestly, it is an important story and who knew that many of our diamonds are tainted?

CAROLINE: Well, actually everyone knows. This conflict has been going on for years. Kanye West even has a song about it.

RYAN: Of course he does.

CAROLINE: It’s an important message. But the film could have been about a half an hour shorter.

RYAN: Please, they could have cut out forty-five minutes.

CAROLINE: Done and done.

Thanks For Viewing The BLOOD DIAMOND
