THE KINGDOM
RYAN: I regret not having seen “The Kingdom” but I have simply not had a moment to myself. How was it?
CAROLINE: I freakin’ loved this movie. It might be one of my favorites of the year, and not just because of Jenny Garner.
RYAN: Really? What, besides her, works in this movie?
CAROLINE: It’s just really exciting and good. Even Jamie Foxx isn’t annoying. He’s kind of the lead, but Jenny’s got a good part and it also features Chris Cooper and one of my perennial faves, cutie pie Jason Bateman.
RYAN: But we know it’s got political overtones…so at what point does it get slow and boring?
CAROLINE: Honestly, never. Yes, it’s about a bombing in Saudi Arabia, but it’s all very timely and newsy in a good way. And the four aforementioned actors all have cool FBI scenes that make it really fun.
RYAN: Is anyone bloated? Does someone have a bad accent? Give me something to pick on here.
CAROLINE: No, they all play Americans. Jason Bateman’s character is bitter and sarcastic and he’s absolutely hilarious. Jenny G looks fabulous as always. I really have nothing to pick on about this movie, other than the fact that Chris Cooper pretty much has a throwaway part. He’s such a good actor; he deserves better.
RYAN: I’m dying to know – ultimately would you recommend this movie? Because it sounds like you’re on the fence.
CAROLINE: [laughs’ Clearly, I’m a fan. My bottom line is that this is a great, very current, action-packed movie. The last 30 minutes are as good as everyone is saying. It’s very cutty and fast-paced though, so if you don’t like that jostly hand-held camera thing, then this isn’t a movie for you.
RYAN: Then I can’t not see it.
