New on DVD

Out on DVD today is the surprisingly hilarious “Blades of Glory.” Will Ferrell normally has to be taken with a grain of salt, but he’s fun to watch in this one. The real scene-stealer though is Napoleon Dynamite a.k.a. Jon Heder – he’s hilarious! Also look for a fun turn from real-life couple Amy Poehler and Will Arnett as a brother/sister skating team, as well as TV’s Jenna Fischer as their sister/manager. The DVD has lots of fun extras in addition to the usual gag reel and deleted scenes, so check it out.

Also out on DVD today is the utterly unlovable “Year of the Dog.” This small indie stars Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly and some other good people, but it’s just kind of weird. Molly Shannon plays a total sad sack, and the movie is about her lame life until it takes a bizarre PETA turn at the end. Rent this at your own risk.
