Legends of Oz: Dan Aykroyd Interview
The animated, musical Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return opens nationwide in 3D May 9, 2014 – and I’m thrilled to share the first press interview with one of the cast members – Dan Aykroyd – who plays the Scarecrow in the film. I was able to ask him about my most anticipated film of the year (as a lifelong Oz fan), courtesy of Nate & Murphy – hosts of Jackson, Mississippi’s #1 Hit Music Station, Y101.7. I’ve been reviewing movies with them, live, every Friday morning for years and they did me the greatest favor making this Ozzy moment happen:
The casting in this movie is phenomenal – led by Lea Michele as Dorothy. Dan Aykroyd is a comedy and movie legend; while I love his answer and enthusiasm for the upcoming film (which I completely share) he got a couple facts wrong: 1) the original author of The Wizard of Oz is L. Frank Baum who wrote 14 (not 12) Oz books and 2) Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return is based on the book Dorothy of Oz written by L. Frank Baum’s great grandson (not nephew) Roger S. Baum.

Ryan:
I too appreciate providing correct info about Roger’s book, Dorothy of Oz and it’s author, as well as his great grandfather, L. Frank Baum. Having read Dorothy of Oz, which is a wonderful story by Roger Baum, I am so looking forward to its adaptation for the silver screen. I too look forward to seeing you and Roger in Chittenango this June. Carpe Oz!
