True Confession
CAROLINE: Ryan gets mad at me every time I complain about this, but I just have to mention it one more time. Can someone please explain to me why inflation is not accounted for in box office figures?? It completely defies logic. Every summer when a new blockbuster like “Spider-Man” or “Pirates of the Caribbean” comes out, all the trades rave about how these movies have set a “New Box Office Record!” But it’s like, duh…of course they’re setting new records because ticket prices have gone up since last summer.
It costs $11 to go to a movie in New York City these days. So next summer, when the new Indiana Jones comes out, I’m sure it will be the “New Highest-grossing Film Ever” because by then, tickets will be $12. Does this make sense? I think not.

Yeah… why don’t they track number of tickets sold instead of revune? Then we’d really know if more people are seeing movies!
