THE SIMPSONS MOVIE

RYAN: I have very little to say about “The Simpsons Movie” because I was so bored watching this film that I just don’t care to comment.

CAROLINE: Oh whatever – I heard you laugh a few times.

RYAN: OK, I laughed a couple times. But I was surprised at how much I heard you laugh.

CAROLINE: What can I say? The first twenty minutes were very funny. But after that, I merely chuckled.

RYAN: I liked the first twenty minutes too – very irreverent and pop culturally relevant with funny references to today’s movie-going experience. But then it turned into a regular Simpsons story, and I don’t watch “The Simpsons.” I don’t really like the show, so this movie did very little to entertain me.

CAROLINE: The movie is basically a really long episode of “The Simpsons,” except they can do things on a broader scale since they have more time.

RYAN: Some of the direction is cool and they animation was stepped up a little bit. But still, I just don’t care.

CAROLINE: The movie definitely flags after a while. All of the funny, original stuff that happens in the beginning loses its luster, and then it just became the usual stuff about a bumbling Homer who screwed everything up and has to fix it.

RYAN: Snore.

CAROLINE: But did you know that it takes nine months to put together one episode of “The Simpsons”? That’s crazy. And they put this movie together in about 18 months, so that’s definitely an accomplishment.

RYAN: Well, this movie was 18 years in the making and I could have easily lived another 18 years without seeing it.

CAROLINE: But I’m sure that fans of “The Simpsons” are all going to love it. I found it somewhat amusing, but I can’t imagine it’s any funnier than a regular “Simpsons” episode.

RYAN: You just let me know when they’re making a film version of “Grey’s Anatomy,” and I’ll be first in line.

CAROLINE: Yes, that’s more our speed. We’ll be first in line for the “Sex and the City” movie. Bottom line?

RYAN: If you love “The Simpsons,” I’m sure you’ll enjoy this film. But we’re not big fans, so this movie just didn’t do a whole lot for us.

CAROLINE: I will say that the much talked about Bart nudity scene is the funniest thing in the movie. It happens really quickly in the first few minutes, and it’s brilliant. Other than that, the movie is amusing but nothing special.

RYAN: It’s totally not worth the $11. Wait for it on DVD.

Thanks For Viewing The THE SIMPSONS MOVIE
