THE LIVES OF OTHERS

CAROLINE: I was inspired to see the Oscar-winning foreign language film of this year, “The Lives of Others.” You, however, did not have any interest.

RYAN: I didn’t. Because I’m anti-Nazi.

CAROLINE: This is indeed a German film. But it’s not a Nazi movie, it’s a Stasi movie.

RYAN: Was it worthy of its Oscar?

CAROLINE: I’d heard how excellent this movie is from several different people, but I still tried to go in with low expectations. Sadly, I was disappointed and didn’t love it.

RYAN: Ah.

CAROLINE: I think I’m in the minority though.

RYAN: It’s ok, honey.

CAROLINE: Maybe I just don’t understand German.

RYAN: But wasn’t it sub-titled?

CAROLINE: Yes.

RYAN: [laughs’ Do you understand English.

CAROLINE: Sometimes.

RYAN: Did the movie hold your attention?

CAROLINE: It was a little bit long. There were definitely interesting elements, like the whole spying angle. And I really loved the last forty minutes. But I couldn’t fully get into the movie until the end. The acting was really good.

RYAN: Bottom line?

CAROLINE: I liked it but I didn’t love it. I really wanted to have a powerful movie-going experience and I didn’t have it.

RYAN: I’m sorry to hear that because I know you were excited to see it.

CAROLINE: I was bummed.

RYAN: So the moral of the story is?

CAROLINE: “Pan’s Labyrinth” was better.

Thanks For Viewing The THE LIVES OF OTHERS

Caro! I loved this movie. I think you have to admit to your fans that you have a bit of an issue about movie length. If it’s over 90 minutes the movie doesn’t have a fair chance with you!I’m just kidding. But I did love this movie, so much so i am inspired to comment. Maybe it was killed by the hype. When I saw it I knew nothing about it….
