WORLD TRADE CENTER

RYAN: I pulled my weight as an American citizen and patronized the movie “World Trade Center.”
CAROLINE: Ironically, you didn’t even see it in New York City.
RYAN: True. I was in my home town, Milwaukee, and attended with m’pal Tammy and her moms. But as someone who was in NYC when 9/11 went down; saw the towers fall with mine own eyes… it hit home.
CAROLINE: I’m sure.
RYAN: Particularly the first 20 minutes because they literally retraced my own steps that morning. It was surreal and frightening. Remember that morning? We were working together.
CAROLINE: Yes. We spoke on the phone that morning.
RYAN: It was a bright, sunny morning. And the film opens in my neighborhood and I just remember everything so vividly.
CAROLINE: Ok. But it’s not all about you. So let’s be honest. I didn’t see this film because I’m tired of seeing Nic Cage playing the hero.
RYAN: Well Nic Cage was fine. I didn’t want to see this for the longest time cos I’m against the dramatization of that day’s terrorism… so soon after it happened. Insensitive.
CAROLINE: Fair enough. No arguments on that point.
RYAN: Then for what ever reason, I decided to see it. It’s too long.
CAROLINE: Ew. So typical of Oliver Stone.
RYAN: It focuses on two men who were heroes. And not to sound like the cold-hearted bitch that I am… but, I just didn’t connect or care about these guys. Maybe because I was looking at Nicolas Cage.
CAROLINE: I do want to see him in “The Wicker Man.” I like him in certain roles. I’m tired of him as an action hero. He should be focusing on more character-driven roles.
RYAN: With due respect, you didn’t see this film. And he wasn’t doing any action. He spends the length of the picture compressed 20 feet under debris.
CAROLINE: I don’t know. How was Maggie G?
RYAN: Maggie Gyllenhaal is in it. She’s just ok. There was something irritating about her. Maria Bello’s better in her role. Maggie’s a little amateur still.
CAROLINE: Is she pregnant in it?

RYAN: She is. And she’s pregnant now, in real life.
CAROLINE: Was she really pregnant in it or was she wearing a prosthetic?
RYAN: A prosthetic. She has the baby in the final scene of the film.
CAROLINE: I can’t believe you just ruined the ending.
RYAN: It’s based on a true story. The ending is known.
