Snitch Review

RYAN: I like Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock.” I follow him on Twitter.  I like him in all of his family films and I think he’s really cute and he’s returned to the sort-of action genre with Snitch and yeah… not so much.

KIM: I am also a fan of his.  As a former wrestler, he’s actually a pretty decent actor.  Not great, but he’s very tolerable on screen.  He’s cute while an action star but the pacing was off in this movie.  And the action didn’t pick up soon enough.  But then I thought it was not so bad.

RYAN: It was so slow and boring.  Even the story had a lot of holes in it.  And for being “inspired by true events,” it was still so far-fetched.  I don’t know what of it was true but I highly doubt much of it.

KIM: I’m always leery of what’s true and isn’t in movies “inspired by.”

RYAN: There was once a man named John.  That may be the extent of what was based on truth here.

KIM: [laughs’ Exactly.  But Susan Sarandon is in this and she looks great.  Wow.

RYAN: She looks waymazing.

KIM: That aside, she was underused.

RYAN:  I would have liked to have seen more of her.  But that’s not the main problem with this film.  It was desperately trying to be gritty and intense and it never was.  All the close-ups and shaky-cam used to try to create that verité feel did not work. It was a major fail and actually made me uncomfortable.

KIM: I swear to God there were moments I had to look away.  I don’t get sick in movies, even in 3D, but whatever they were doing was terrible.

RYAN: The movie wasn’t intense.  The two climax scenes were okay but not good enough to justify this movie.  The story didn’t connect at the end.  It’s just all swept together and ended.

KIM: I agree.

RYAN: The score was also lame and stood out which it shouldn’t.

KIM: It didn’t flow as well it should.  The acting was fine but you expect more from a movie when you go to see it.  And the story could have been better.

— BOTTOM LINE —

RYAN: There is nothing must-see about this movie.  It’s one for the schlock pile of the year.
