2009 Golden Globe Nominations

CAROLINE: OMG OMG it’s finally here! Our favorite time of the year is officially underway what with this morning’s announcement of the Golden Globe nominations.

RYAN: This is like Christmas in the world of WeSeeMovies.com! The announcements are always so exciting and then there’s always one that’s like the pair of socks your don’t want. They were canceled this year because of the writer’s strike. So it’s gonna be a fabulous welcome back when we watch them January 11th.

CAROLINE: I love that one of our favorite actresses, Elizabeth Banks, was one of the GG nom announcers this morning.

RYAN: Totally! And Brooke Shields was in there too looking gorge as always.

CAROLINE: There were a couple of way random nominees this year, especially in the male acting categories. But I kind of love that James Franco got nominated for “Pineapple Express.” He was so funny in that movie.

RYAN: I’m so excited about Amy Adams and Anne Hathaway both getting nominated – they’re two of my faves!

CAROLINE: You’ll notice the large number of British and European actors who are nominated too – the voters are the Hollywood Foreign Press after all. They love the overseas actors.

RYAN: Interesting to see that “Doubt” and “Milk” were left off the Best Picture list. I wonder what that means for the Oscar race.

CAROLINE: They can’t all get nominated; but yes, that was a bit of a surprise. As was Clint Eastwood not getting nominated for Best Actor in “Gran Torino.” Sometimes the Golden Globes nominate more than five people in an acting category, but I guess they didn’t feel compelled this year.

RYAN: We can’t wait to see the show and I’m really looking forward to checking out Rumer Willis as Miss Golden Globe 2009!

CAROLINE: Oh my God, that’s right. Let’s hope she trips or something.
