2007 Golden Globe Nominations – We React!

RYAN: Well I’ll b’damned if I don’t feel like it’s my birthday today!

CAROLINE: It is a heady, exciting day for us.

RYAN: For the GG nominations were announced this morning and I’m freakin’ out!

CAROLINE: I’m really freaking out. But I’m also annoyed, as always, since practically every movie that came out this year is nominated… even ones that don’t deserve to be.

RYAN: These things do happen.

CAROLINE: But there are some exciting noms that we’re thrilled about, such as Maggie Gyllenhaal for “SherryBaby.”

RYAN: I’m just psyched that for the first time in a long while, you and I really correctly predicted many of the film that are recognized, i.e. “Little Children…”

CAROLINE: …which no one has seen.

RYAN: And “Notes on a Scandal.” It’s so validating for us.

CAROLINE: Everyone was aleady talking about “Notes on a Scandal.” Everyone’s buzzing about Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench.

RYAN: Ok. Well, “Little Children” then. Really exciting. And on the next note… I have to get out and see “Babel!”

CAROLINE: I’ve been telling you it’s one of my favorite films this year.

RYAN: I’m gonna have to see it.

CAROLINE: As we know, the GGs nominate for both drama and comedy so if you look at a category such as best actress, everyone in the drama category is quite deserving. Then you look at the musical or comedy category and it’s a joke. Beyonce? Please. And Annette Bening – she’s decent in “Running with Scissors,” but that was one of the worst movies we saw this year. It’s hard for me to take it seriously when they go there.

RYAN: Looking at Beyonce… up against Toni Collette and Meryl Streep.

CAROLINE: It’s ridiculous.

RYAN: And I love how Renee Zellweger is nominated for “Miss Potter” and it’s not even out yet.

CAROLINE: And she looks like a bloated, puffy alcoholic in the trailer.

RYAN: (laughs) Takes one to know one. Kidding. I just wanna see it cos of Ewan McGregor.

CAROLINE: In other news, I’m very excited about Sacha Baron Cohen’s nomination.

RYAN: It’s insane! He’s gotta be doin’ a happy dance.

CAROLINE: They’re usually so stingy with the comedy awards and as you remember, Steve Carell didn’t get nominated for “The 40 Year Old Virgin” last year, which was a travesty.

RYAN: And go Emily Blunt for “The Devil Wears Prada!”

CAROLINE: Very cool.

RYAN: I’m just shocked Jennifer Hudson is in the supporting category. So lame. Her part is just as big as Beyonce’s.

CAROLINE: That has to do with politics. And Leo DiCaprio is nominated twice for Best Actor.

RYAN: Though he doesn’t deserve it for “Blood Diamond.”

CAROLINE: And Clint Eastwood is nominated twice for Best Director.

RYAN: Well needless to say, we cannot wait for the show!

CAROLINE: We’ll predict who wins closer to the show.

RYAN: For now we have to digest the nominations. It’s a terribly exciting year.

CAROLINE: It is a good year for film.

RYAN: Can I quote you on that, Caroline?

CAROLINE: You can.

RYAN: Done.

CAROLINE: And done.
